Congratulations to all 2017 Nominees!

Nominees for the youth award:

Logan Batson – leadership roles at school and Scouting.  Won the Chief Scout award and participates in Terry Fox Runs

Michelle Fornasier – leadership roles at Assumption School as a school ambassador, coordinating orientation day and part of the Model United Nations Team.  She is also the President of Young Vincentians- Holy Rosary where she leads many outreach projects in the community

Luke Rankin – leader and captain of his elite soccer team with a talent to motivate other youth, a real role model.

Nominees for the adult awards:

Reg and Marg Bullock – ambassadors for Aldershot, Reg and Marg are long time and very active members of the Aldershot Lions Club, helped established a Farmers’ Market on Plains Rd., served their church community, and initiated activities at the LaSalle Park residence

Linda Cupido – committed volunteer in our community.  Aldershot Community Council, Plains Road Vision, Aldershot BIA, Warwick-Surrey Community Association and Partnering Aldershot are a few of the organizations she worked with.  Also very active in Holy Rosary School and Holy Rosary Parish and the Royal Botanical Gardens.

Kiara Galbreath – dedicated to improving the health and fitness of seniors through her professional and volunteer work in Aldershot.  She also conducts exercise classes for seniors at St. Matthews. Kiara was also a founding member of the Aldershot Village BIA.

 Alicia Hicks – goes above and beyond her job at LaSalle Salon and Spa to make seniors feel more comfortable. She is also works passionately for the local community in food drives for Compassion Society, Toonie drives and fundraising for diabetic walks.

Rupert Papin – member of the Lion’s Club, founding member of the ‘Internats’, an organization to assist families integrating into the community, founding member of the annual horse show,

Eunice Porritt – active resident of Aldershot for over 65 years.  Served on many Boards of Directors from Burlington Public Library, Burlington Culture Centre, Joseph Brant Memorial Fund to name a few.  Also very active in St. Matthews’s Anglican Church and the Burlington Figure Skating Club.

Mark Preston – currently serves on the Development Committee at the Royal Botanical Gardens and the restoration committee for LaSalle Park Pavilion; has served the Aldershot Garden Festival, the Burlington Amateur Softball Association, the Partnership West Food Bank, the Burlington Flood Disaster Relief Committee

Beverley Robertson – very active in her church activities, teaches the art of gift card making, and is involved in Mission Work.

James Sweetlove – founding member of Burlington Community Foundation, serves on the boards of Joseph Brant Hospital, Conservation Halton, Burlington Museums, Kiwanis and Halton Women’s Place.  Warden at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church.

Michael Veri – founding member of the team that developed the Mark Preece Family House, strong supporter of St. Joseph’s Villa, Carpenter Hospice and Ronald McDonald House, committed to sharing his time and talent throughout the community
